INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP DAY
Friendship is a relationship that is built on confidence, trust and respect that is made in the brief journey called life. Life has been viewed to be so brief to the point where the legendary nursery rhyme ‘Solomon Grundy’ was coined which depicts the whole circus of life in one short and eventful week.
Today, as we celebrate International Friendship day, we should take into account the many different types of friendships that are present.

First, the most publicly identified and always sought for is the relationship between a man and a woman. So important is it that it has become the very nature most adults identify themselves. ‘Meet my husband’ they say, ‘Say hello to your wife’ and ‘I have heard so much about you, Mr. X’ and so on. Today, we are able to celebrate our spouses because it all began as a friendship. It’s good to love but it’s great to be loved, and that’s why it is apparent to say I love you but challenging to confess I love you too. But friendship bridges the gap, making it easier than ever before.
Agape love is the most common form of love which is loosely translated as the ‘Love of God’. Some dynasties and empires, however big or small, are so great because they were built on this kind of love. And today, we celebrate this friendship. Everyone wants to be considered, appreciated, relished and conceded. Our friends, we celebrate you because you have made this very much possible.
Lastly, we all need to be friends with ourselves. We need to show all the attributes that are essential for a successful friendship towards our very self. Self-doubt kills our self-worth and makes our friendships meaningless. Self-confidence is charming because it contrives disgust. You’ll love it when people doubt you because it will give you the motivation to work even harder.

Finally, it is important to realize that relationships don’t require compatibility, but a sense of authenticity and accountability. Maturity, understandability and zero expectations cup it all up.
Hope you’ve enjoyed your July! Continue enjoying your friendships and thank God for them everyday!
